VOL 2. - I'M STARTING A REVOLUTION

Women can do EVERYTHING. Women are amazing. Women are magic makers - I really wish my social media would
stop saying this.

YES! I am a woman and yeah, I CAN do everything and I'm totally amazing... BUT I don't WANT to do EVERYTHING!
And I shouldn't have to!

I don't know about each of you, but I am tired.

Today I found myself with an extra 20 minutes. Normally I would be sitting, dead scrolling Instagram, or sending
my besties hilarious memes - as this is the only way we communicate these days.
Instead, do you know what I did? I raced to Woolies to grab a birthday card and wrapping paper for the two
parties that THREE and FOUR have on the weekend. Because I'M AMAZING. I get EVERYTHING done, or so I try!

Fun Daddy had 20 minutes the other day, you know what he did? He took a nap! I'm coming back as the daddy
in my next life that's for sure!

Don't get me wrong, I still gave up sleep to finally watch the latest fabulous four episodes of the new period
drama and spent a good chunk of time dreaming about how useful a corset would be, but the rest of my week
is a highly scheduled, hectic roundabout of comings and goings and I know yours are too!

So, I am ready to start a new revolution - no bra burning (or corset tearing - did you SEE that carriage scene!!)
but a revolution where I respond by saying 'I CAN'T RIGHT NOW' or even, very gently and kindly, 'NO THANK YOU'.

Oh, training will be at 6 - 8 pm this week and you'd like to make it twice a week? Oh, and a team bonding
session at paintball located just on the border of NSW and Uranus... Sure, of course my kid will be there,
we wouldn't miss it.

How happy I would feel if I just said, "No thank you". Am I even allowed to hint that I can't manage that
at the moment?

But we don't say no, do we? We say yes, we carpool - the minivan loves a few extras - we make deals with
other amazing mums to share the busy load.

We drag younger ones along in their bathrobes and slippers with fully charged iPads, schedule showers around
different times and depending on the training we eat dinner at 5pm or 10pm.

This week we did it all! Not one mixed up uniform, not one forgotten homework, not one little bit late, not one
lunch order, not one reminder email from the school and we only had fast food once!

Sometimes I dream about who will play me in the midday movie and then I realise this EVEREST effort that
got me through this week is not award winning, it's just what we do. Because women can do EVERYTHING.
Women are amazing. Women are magic makers.

And I did laugh and high five at the end of this gold star week and "pinned it" knowing full well it will never
be replicated!

And as soon as we said that... ONE lost her soccer shorts, so we had to buy a new pair only to find the originals
in the fridge - we still have no answers to that one.

Life isn't perfect. Our lives are messy and busy, and no one gets it 'bang on' always right all the time.

So go gently super parents! Amazing women, super mums and dads, magic makers! Just because you CAN do
EVERYTHING, doesn't mean you HAVE to!
